When people think of a successful photography business, they often picture a big studio with a team of assistants, back-to-back bookings, and a packed schedule - but that’s never been my goal. I intentionally keep my business small, and I truly believe it benefits my clients just as much as it benefits me. Here’s why:
1. A more personal experience
When you book a session with me, you’re getting me - not an assistant, not an outsourced editor, not a big studio operation. From the first inquiry to the final gallery delivery, I’m the one guiding you through the process. This means I can get to know you, understand what you’re hoping for, and make sure you feel completely comfortable before we even start taking photos. And that personal connection makes a huge difference when you step in front of the camera.
2. Attention to detail
Because I don’t overbook myself, I have the time to focus on the little things that make your photos extra special. I’m not rushing through galleries just to meet a deadline - I’m carefully editing each image to reflect the real emotions, the warmth, and the beauty of your session. You’re not just another booking on a long list - your memories matter to me, and I take my time to do them justice.
3. Flexibility
One of the best things about running a small business is the freedom to tailor each session to my clients. If you have a unique idea for your photoshoot, I can take the time to work with you and make it happen. Whether it’s a favourite location, a meaningful prop, or a special family tradition, I love incorporating personal touches that make your photos feel like you.

4. Less pressure means more fun
I know that for many people, having photos taken can feel a little nerve-wracking. But because I don’t run my business like a high-volume factory, our session won’t feel rushed or impersonal. Instead, we’ll take the time to chat, laugh, and ease into it so you feel relaxed and natural in front of the camera. My goal is to make it an enjoyable experience, not just another appointment on your calendar.
5. Personal communication
You won’t wait days for a reply from an assistant - you’ll talk to me directly. When you have a question, I’m the one answering. When you send me a message about how much you love your photos, I’m the one reading it (and probably smiling like an idiot). This kind of connection is something I never want to lose.
6. You’re supporting a passion
I keep my business small because I love what I do, and I want to keep loving it. Photography is deeply personal for me - it’s not just a job; it’s something I care about. By keeping my bookings manageable, I can continue to enjoy the creative process without burning out. And when I’m excited about the work I’m doing, that energy carries through to my clients.
For me, photography is about connection - between you and your loved ones, between me and my clients, and between a moment and the memories it holds. And I love being able to give a personalised, thoughtful experience that captures what matters most to you. If that sounds like something you’re into – let’s chat! My inbox is always open.
