There’s nothing quite like a sunset session on the beach, especially when it involves two adorable greyhounds and their equally lovely humans. Recently, I had the pleasure of spending a relaxed evening with Shamila, Pes, and their two gorgeous greyhounds, Jerry and Roma.
Jerry and Roma are in their golden years, truly embodying the "grey" in greyhound. Because of this, we took things nice and slow, giving them plenty of time to enjoy the evening. Both dogs were intrigued by the sound of my camera shutter, tilting their heads in that endearing way that only greyhounds can pull off. Their curiosity added such a sweet and playful energy to the shoot.
Jerry had a particular fondness for sitting and staring at the waves, almost like he was contemplating life or soaking in the beauty of the ocean. Roma, on the other hand, showed a bit more energy. She played a bit of fetch with a ball, though retrieving it turned into a bit of a game as we wrestled it from her mouth. Ultimately, she was happiest being the centre of attention, soaking up all the pats and affection. Meanwhile, Jerry seemed content to watch the action from his spot in the sand, looking every bit the tired but content elder statesman.
Of course, the session wasn’t all about the dogs. I took the opportunity to capture some portraits of Shamila and Pes as well. Their connection was so natural and genuine, and seeing their bond with Jerry and Roma was a great reminder of the incredible companionship that pets bring into our lives.
As the session wound down, the sky turned shades of pink, orange, and gold, reflecting on the gentle waves. It was one of those moments that make you stop and appreciate the simple joys in life - good company, natural beauty, and the unconditional love of dogs.
As cheesy as it sounds, sessions like these remind me why I love what I do. It’s not just about taking photos; it’s about capturing memories and connections that mean the world to people. Shamila and Pes’s love for Jerry and Roma, and for each other, was a joy to witness and document. I’m so grateful to have been part of this special evening and to have had the chance to meet such wonderful souls—both human and canine.
