Let’s be honest - booking family photos can feel a bit intimidating. I hear it all the time:
“My kids won’t behave.”
“I’m awkward in front of the camera.”
“I’ll do it when I lose a few kilos…”
Sound familiar? Let’s bust these myths once and for all.
1. “My kids won’t behave.”
Good! I don’t want them to. The best photos come when kids are being themselves - running, laughing, pulling silly faces. I have plenty of tricks to keep things light and fun, and honestly, those wild, messy moments are the ones you’ll treasure most.
2. “I’m so awkward in front of the camera.”
Join the club - nearly everyone feels this way at first. That’s why I focus on movement, connection, and fun, not stiff poses. We’ll chat, laugh, chase your kids - before you know it, you’ll forget the camera is even there.
3. “We’ll book a session when I’ve lost weight.”
Please don’t wait. Your family loves you exactly as you are right now - and that’s what matters most. These photos aren’t about perfection, they’re about presence. Your kids won’t look back and see ‘flaws’; they’ll see love.
4. “We need perfect weather for good photos.”
Nope. Some of my favourite images were taken on cloudy, windy, or even slightly drizzly days. Beautiful light comes in all forms, and honestly? A little wind makes for magical, windswept moments you can’t plan.
5. “Family photos have to be formal and posed.”
Not with me! My sessions are relaxed, playful, and full of movement. We’ll capture the real stuff - belly laughs, bear hugs, wind in your hair. The good bits you’ll actually want to remember.
The Bottom Line:
There’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ family session. The magic comes from the messy, joyful, beautifully real moments that tell your story.
If you’ve been putting it off, this is your sign to go for it. I’d love to capture your family just as you are - quirks, chaos, and all.
